Junior School Cross-Country- Wednesday 1.30pm
Hopefully the weather is fine so that the children can participate in the Junior School Cross-country run! This is to be held at school on the field.
All parents, friends and family are welcome to come along and support our junior children.

Children need to bring their PE gear and a jersey to wear while they are waiting to compete.

Reading books
The Junior teachers are doing a stock take of reading books during the holidays, so please send any books you have at home to school with your child. Thank you for the bags of books already sent in ;)

Our reading in class this week will be poems. Reading testing will also be done this week.

Holiday Reading Logs
These will be sent home this week. Please make sure your child reads regularly during the holidays, and write what they have read on their reading logs.
We want 100% of these completed and returned again!
I will be taking my own children to the Rotorua Library to choose some books to read over the break.

The winner of the Holiday Reading Log draw this term will receive an HP CHROMEBOOK!!!

Number Rumble
Your child is so lucky to have access to Number Rumble at home during the holidays!

As well as working through their Programme, it is really important for them to regularly practice their basic facts to 20 so that they can recall these instantly.

On the 0-20 tasks: adding ones (2 numbers), subtract ones (2 numbers), your child is able to practice these and go over them as many times as they want.

Calendar art
Our PTA do a Calendar fundraiser every year. Our class completed some beautiful art work last week for our calendars.

Calendars are $10
pack of 8 cards are $12
Diary is $15
Kids notepad is $12
Mouse mat is $13

Order forms went home on Friday and need to be returned this week. Those children who were away will get theirs tomorrow. Spare forms are also available from the school office.

Have a look at the photos below and get your child to show you which beautiful art work is theirs.

Thank you
Again, thank you for all of your support this term. I love coming to school every day and teaching your precious gifts from God.

Have a lovely break.
God Bless.
Eliana

Your child has been working so hard, they now need a new Reading and Maths book.
Can you please send $3 to school with your child for these.

Portfolio assessments
From Tuesday this week we will begin assessments for our portfolios- yay!
There are still a few portfolios that haven't been brought back to school, so please have your child return these this week.

Home readers
It's that time again. Please have a hunt around the house for reading books and return them to school with your child. Lots of books haven't come back this term.

Gymnastics competition- Friday
We have some talented gymnasts in Room 9 who were selected to compete in the interschool gymnastics competition.
They have been training very hard, so best of luck to you all!

Number Rumble
Unfortunately our class Number Rumble accounts ended last Friday :(
But.... Mr Macmillan was so happy with how well our class has been using the programme, he paid for us to get a new account- Yipee!!!

It worked out to be around $6 per child, so we are going to do some fundraising to pay the money back to the school.
I was thinking we could have a cake stall, car wash or Maths-a-thon?
Let me know if you have any other great ideas.
Our new login details will be set up this week.

Have a lovely week.

Mr Macmillan gets iced

Today Mr Macmillan got 3 buckets of ice and icy water poured over him for winning the most votes in the "dunk the teacher" fundraiser.

He's such a nice Principal. We did feel sorry for him didn't we room 9!

Royal Ballet visit

We were so lucky to have visitors from The New Zealand Royal Ballet Company today.

They talked about the importance of reading, and read an excerpt from William Shakespeare's A Midsummer's Night Dream.

We got to feel the fabric and shoes they use in the show, then they taught us a few ballet moves.

Here are some photos from the visit.

Mary's birthday

We had a lovely Birthday of Mary Mass on Friday.

I also made a chocolate cake which we all shared for morning tea.

Look at the lovely Prayer Altar we made to commemorate Mary's birthday too.
