Hi Parents

I want to say a huge thank you for being such great parents this year. We have had a wonderful year of learning and fun, and I am going to miss all of the children very much.

I will be doing extra study during the holidays and term 1 next year, so I will be doing daily relief teaching at St Mary's for 2 days a week to begin with... :)

Prizegiving

Each class has 5 awards to give out: 2 for Achievement, 2 for  Consistent effort and 1 for Faith in action.

If your child is receiving an award they will have a card in their envelope that went home on Friday.
I found it really difficult choosing the children from our class as we have so many outstanding students.

School Tryathlon

Order of events - Swim, Bike, Run.

Junior students:
- Swim 1 width of pool.
- Scoot or cycle 1 lap of the astroturf.
- Run once around the field and finish back on the astroturf.

Juniors will pick up their bikes/scooters from outside Rooms 9 & 10.
They will then walk to the blue gates and complete 1 circuit of the astroturf.

2016 CLASSROOM TEACHERS

The Middle school will be made up of five Year 3/4 classes next year:

Mrs Bernie Hall- Room 12.
Mrs Margot Nielsen (Team leader)- Room 14.
Mrs Tai Waititi- Room 15.
Mr David Bach- Room 16.
Mrs Teresa Rush- Room 17.

Holiday Learning

Reading
Make sure to keep up with the reading during the holidays. As I have mentioned before, the public library is full of neat books for all levels. It is fine if your child chooses some easy books to read. It will help them to develop their fluency and will be a lot more enjoyable for them. Don't forget to read to them as well.

Writing
Have a collection of writing books, paper, pencils and pens to encourage your child to draw and write about their ideas during the holidays.

They could write a recount of their day, cards to family members, shopping lists and notes to people.

Maths
Your child should have access to their Number Rumble account over the holidays. They should work towards achieving 3 stars in all of the 0-100 and 0-1000 problems.

Also practice quick recall of + - X ÷ basic facts with your child and make up word problems for them to solve.

Have a happy and holy Christmas.
God Bless

Christmas parade photos

I had the pleasure of helping out at the Christmas Parade on Saturday. The St Mary's and St Michael's children looked awesome and were so well behaved.
Having a Nativity float was a great reminder to everyone that Jesus is the reason for the season.
