Welcome back to school for 2015!

Our first week will focus on getting back into the routine of school. We will be getting to know each other, finding out some interesting facts about our new friends, and learning how Room 9 will run this term.

Your child will need their book bag and at least some stationery on the first day of school. I have 26 students, so please name your child's stationery so that it doesn't get misplaced.

We will be starting reading, writing, and maths this week. Over the holidays some children may have gone backwards in their learning, while others may have shot ahead. It will take me a few weeks to test and assess the children to make sure they are working at the right levels.

We will be swimming every day in Weeks 1,3,5,7 and 9.
Please make sure your child has their togs, towel and goggles in a plastic bag on the first day of school so that they don’t miss out.

Let me know if you are able to help in the classroom this term- your help would be much appreciated. You may be able to help by listening to children read, working alongside children, or putting readers away in the resource room.

Have a lovely week.

Room 9's teacher

Kia ora. I am Eliana Maxwell and I will be your child's teacher this term.
Moira Pinfold has left to teach in China, so the school is currently advertising for a new Team Leader.

I have taught in the Junior School for many years, and started teaching at St Mary's School last year. I did the classroom release in the junior classes so I already know all of the wonderful children in Room 9 this year. I am married to Clint and we have two children who also go to St Mary’s.

This blog will be used to inform you of upcoming events, communicate messages, and show some of the learning and activities we have done at school.
I will post an outline of the upcoming week on the blog on Sundays.

It's going to be a great term, and I am really looking forward to getting to know you all.
